Vietnam: A History

Title: Vietnam: A History by Stanley Karnow

Category: Nonfiction, History

Review: This is one of the best history books that I have read. This book goes through the beginning of Vietnam and the different battles to the battle with America. The author, who is a correspondent, wrote the book very well. He tells the story through his point of view, which makes it interesting for the reader. I expected this book just to be about the battle between America and Vietnam. I was thoroughly surprised to see that the author went over the entire history of the country of Vietnam. Sometimes you need a background to something, before getting into what you really want to read, and this was a great book to have to read. I definitely recommend this for all those history buffs out there. Whether you are interested in the Vietnam War or not, it is a great read.

  1. A Bright Shining Lie, by Neil Sheehan, is not only a great book on the US involvement in SE Asia, it is one of the best nonfiction books I have ever read.
