Dorothy Must Die

Title: Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Category: Fiction, Young Adult

Review: This is the first book in a trilogy of books written by Dorothy Paige about an Oz gone wrong. I loved this book! I saw the book on Amazon and was immediately interested in it. However, I didn’t want to buy it until I read it. So I got it from the library (this is why you need to support your libraries) and read it (finished it today). This may be in the young adult category, but I think you will still like it if you are older. So here is a basic summary: It starts off introducing you to a girl named Amy. Amy lives with her mother in a trailer park where a tornado takes her to Oz. When she arrives she is rescued by a boy named Pete, but he doesn’t tell her much about what has happened to Oz and disappears. She basically travels through Oz and finds out that Dorothy has taken over Oz and that she and her friends have turned evil and are taking the magic from the land. She joins an order of Wicked Witches and learns magic and her assignment is to kill Dorothy. This is a very hard assignment and she has to pose as a maid in the palace to get closer to Dorothy to kill her. In the end of the book she doesn’t kill Dorothy, but chaos does ensue for Dorothy and her friends and she finds out that in order to kill Dorothy she has to take back the things that made her friends powerful, i.e. the Lion’s courage, Scarecrow’s brain, Tinman’s heart. I loved this book and I think you will enjoy it. It’s a great read!
